Located in iconic Mayfair, we opened the doors to our event at the heart of International Energy Week, capturing a unique opportunity to reconnect with industry friends and meet new like-minded colleagues.

Exclusive event feature: Anywhere Freight Pricing

Our team ran a live demo station at the event, showcasing Anywhere Freight Pricing – Vortexa’s latest platform for accessing instant freight prices and unlimited route comparisons for 50,000+ active and 70 million possible CPP routes. See how it works.

This year, Vortexa held two insights sessions for our guests, reflecting on key market fluctuations. We began our event with an LNG panel, focusing on the implications of pressurised Russian LNG markets, together with expert speakers from Argus Media and BloombergNEF. Shortly after the panel, the event carried on to Energy & Freight Market Views.

All throughout IE Week 2025, we heard about present uncertainty for the markets, from the ramifications of evolving sanctions, upcoming regulatory changes from President Trump and the widely-discussed ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.

Amidst limited growth in crude oil demand and constrained products supply, following a tightened mainstream fleet post-sanctions or rising voyage times due to rerouting, our view of market conditions remains that geopolitical uncertainty implies freight volatility. With the focus on global freight, our insights session highlighted that global geopolitical strains are favourable for clean and dirty tonne-miles.

With a close eye on the upcoming tariffs in the United States, we underlined the overall benefit for regional and global tonne-mileage.

Vortexa keeps a close watch over the proposed impositions of the 10% tariff on Canadian and 25% tariff on Mexican crude oil and products imported by the States. At IE week, we highlighted that the US is looking at the total of 5mbd of crude and products that would be affected under tariffs.

Nonetheless, the impact on both crude and clean tankers will likely benefit tonne-miles, specifically Atlantic Basin MRs, Pacific Basin Aframaxes and VLCCs from and to PADDs 3 and 5.

We further discussed what awaits the market if flows resume, should Ukraine and Russia seek a ceasefire.

Should the ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia actualise or if President Trump lifts sanctions placed on Russia in 2022, including the latest vessel-specific Jan-10 sanctions by OFAC, the vessel class most likely to benefit are VLCCs (see chart below).

The rate differentials above were retrieved via Vortexa’s Anywhere Freight Pricing – the first port-to-port freight pricing platform. Book a free demo with us, and our team will guide you on how to extract such insights too.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the guests who attended Vortexa’s event during International Energy Week 2025, and we look forward to welcoming you at any Vortexa events in the future.
