Dominika is a People Operations Specialist based in the London office, responsible for ensuring a smooth onboarding process for new joiners in addition to overseeing employee engagement and wellbeing at Vortexa.

Fun fact: Before getting into HR, Dominika used to teach chess to kids in primary schools.

What does day-to-day life in your role look like?

No two days are the same for me; working in a fast-moving start-up and in the People team always brings some unexpected ventures to my day! My days usually include catch-ups with colleagues across the company, looking after our current and upcoming onboarding journeys, and long-term project work.

What would you say is the most interesting aspect of your role?

Getting to know everyone across the whole company. We have a pretty diverse bunch here at Vortexa and everyone has an interesting story to share.

What was your path to joining Vortexa?

Before joining Vortexa I worked at Monese, a fintech start-up based in London. I joined the company as a Personal & Office Assistant, moved to the HR team shortly after, and never looked back.

What kind of qualities does a person need to have to succeed at Vortexa?

Driven, curious and open-minded, and passionate about their job.

What do you like about the culture?

People at Vortexa really care about the culture – everyone is welcoming, inclusive, and always happy to help. All teams are highly collaborative and work together to achieve the same goal.

Who do you mostly collaborate with?

I’m super lucky to have the chance to collaborate with a lot of people as the company is scaling and we’re hiring across all teams. I work closely with team leads to prepare smooth and engaging onboarding experiences and I catch up regularly with all new joiners to ensure that they’re happy, confident, and supported.

What are the first three things you do on a Monday morning?

I like to start earlier on a Monday morning to get ahead of the game: I catch up with my Slack messages and emails whilst eating breakfast; then I check my upcoming tasks on Asana to put together a to-do list for the day and highlight some bigger projects I’m hoping to focus on during the week.

What energises you most about working as a People Operations Specialist?

Being a part of peoples’ journey at Vortexa. From the moment they accept the offer, through their onboarding, and throughout their time at the company.

We’re always encouraged to look at new ways to make Vortexa an even better place to work – ideas are always welcome here and it really motivates me in my day-to-day life.
