What does day-to-day life in your role look like?
The market analyst role is one scoop data quality projects, two scoops of research and feature improvements with a sprinkle of client requests layered with creating interesting content pieces.
What would you say is the most interesting aspect of your role?
Bringing to life the latest technological data sets from satellites across the globe, or bridging signal gaps through internal tools. We are able to access an entire world of cargo movements in hyper-granularity, which was never previously visible. Our ability able to translate this into actionable data and analytics is an achievement in and of itself.
What was your path to joining Vortexa?
I wanted to move from the more traditional trading analytics towards creating and building innovative products with newer technologies for oil and gas trading. The chance to join a small team building a platform using the latest satellite technologies was a great opportunity! I met the CEO and never looked back. That was 4 years ago and now we are 75 plus spread across London, Singapore and Houston!
What kind of qualities does a person need to have to succeed at Vortexa?
Growth mindset, intellectual curiosity and a collaborative approach to projects and teams.
What do you like about the culture?
“Togetherness” and “vibrant”! Everyone here works very hard to give customers what they need to build a solid product for the future.
Who do you collaborate most with in the company?
Our experienced global team of market analysts, product specialists, data quality analysts, marketing and sales!
What are the first three things you do on a Monday morning?
After dressing an active toddler for school it’s a large coffee, slack, oil market headlines and Vortexa’s flows and diversion pages!
What energises you most about working as a Senior Market Analyst?
Closing the information gap between data science, oil trading and shipping. I love thinking of ways our data can innovate our industry!
