A day in the life of…Theresa Leong, Senior Marketing Manager, APAC
Ever wondered what a day in the life looks like at Vortexa for a Senior Marketing Manager? We sat down with Theresa Leong, who heads up the marketing in APAC, to dig deeper into what energises her most about working at Vortexa, what she really thinks of the company culture and what qualities are needed to succeed…
Theresa is a Senior Marketing Manager for APAC, based in Singapore, responsible for all marketing activities in the region.
Prior to joining Vortexa, Theresa worked as a Regional Marketing Manager at Kofax and S&P Global Platts.
What does day-to-day life in your role look like?
APAC is a very diverse region with a melting pot of cultures, so every day can be different from the next. This is also dependent on the tasks planned for the week and goals set for the quarter etc.
In addition, we are expanding in APAC, so this requires localising our blog articles, campaign messaging and so much more. As such, I work closely with our translation and digital agencies in ensuring that our content is published as per our plan.
What would you say is the most interesting aspect of your role?
The most interesting aspect of my role is “opening up” the APAC market and seeing what works versus what doesn’t in specific countries and making tweaks accordingly. The ever-changing landscape of the oil and energy markets, especially during a pandemic, makes this task of “opening up” the APAC market both challenging and exciting.
What was your path to joining Vortexa?
For most of my career, I have been in the technology industry (telecommunications, printing technology & hardware, computer software & hardware) with a previous stint at S&P Global Platts – which makes joining Vortexa a marriage of everything I have done in my career.
What kind of qualities does a person need to have to succeed at Vortexa?
The ability to embrace and adapt to the diverse culture and different working styles that exist in Vortexa.
What do you like about the culture?
The willingness to help someone out and to pitch in so that a task can be completed and the mindset of “we” vs “me” – we aim to succeed as a team.
Who do you collaborate most with at Vortexa?
I collaborate most with my fellow marketing colleagues on the team, as well as the Lead Analyst and Head of Sales in APAC.
What are the first three things you do on a Monday morning?
Slack, Status Hero check-in and my emails.
What energises you most about working as a Senior Marketing Manager?
Having the opportunity to market into countries where their native language is not English – it is challenging, but the experience gained will be rewarding in the long term.
