Laura is a Product Specialist based in Vortexa’s Geneva office.

Prior to joining Vortexa, Laura worked for more than a decade as a Trading Operator of Crude Oil and Petroleum Products, covering global markets.

Fun fact: Laura used to perform contemporary dance and ballet and even considered becoming a professional dancer.

We wanted to find out what inspired Laura to join Vortexa, what some of her biggest milestones have been to date and what day-to-day life really looks like for a Product Specialist at Vortexa…

What inspired you to join Vortexa?

I have always seen data and tech as the industries of the future! Especially data – the hottest commodity there is. I am very proud to be part of the movement that is shedding light on what is happening in the oil & gas trading industry, which has been so opaque for many years, and helping companies to use the powerful technology to make smarter decisions.

What would you say is the most interesting aspect of your role?

I love that I have the opportunity to connect with so many market makers and help them understand the value that Vortexa’s platform adds to their business.

What have been some significant milestone moments for you at Vortexa?

Opening Vortexa’s Geneva office together with Gert de Boer!

What does day-to-day life look like for you as a Product Specialist? 

As a Product Specialist, my typical day starts with reviewing emails and Slack messages, staying up to date with news and market analysis publications, and strategically preparing for client discussions to ensure I can provide valuable insights and tailored solutions.

My advice for those looking to join Vortexa would be to embrace the steep learning curve! Come with an open heart, keep your passion and a readiness to dive deep into the worlds of data analytics and shipping. It’s an immersive experience that will challenge you and provide incredible growth opportunities.
