Firstly, welcome back! Could we start by asking what motivated you to return to Vortexa?

I left to gain an experience of what working in a large corporation would look like, but I think the idea of returning has always been in the back of my mind. Vortexa has a winning combination of a wildly interesting product, an invested team with freedom to experiment and to play to their strengths, as well as a vision. I know I’ll get a few raised eyebrows for saying this, because it’s terribly uncool to openly love your job, but Vortexa feels like home.

How did you feel on your first day back?

Nervous! It felt a little like the first day back at school after the summer holidays—everything is so familiar yet so different. The company has grown dramatically over the two years I was away. The transition was made easy by the fact that I wasn’t the first or even the fifth recent returner, and by some friendly faces from my first time round.

What do you enjoy the most about Vortexa?

The people and the hustle. We just launched a product that’s a world-first (see Anywhere Freight Pricing here), which has been challenging in so many ways. I think I ran on pure adrenaline in the final weeks leading up to the release, but it was such an exhilarating experience—thanks to the team for keeping the energy high. It was team sport at its finest, and a reminder of what I love the most about working here.

How would you describe Vortexa’s culture?

Casual, inclusive, friendly.

How would you describe Vortexa in five words, or less?

One of a kind!
